Sudanese Orphan: Adjumani Uganda

Alv_01041_2

Sometimes I get very emotionally involved with my subjects. In working with kids, orphans on the Uganda/Sudan border it is impossible for me not to. What started out as a quick trip to Uganda to work with some University of the South seminary students has turned into a multi-year project on the Uganda/Sudan border. This summer I am going back to work in Gulu with the Aftermath Project.

I was staying at an orphanage that cares for Sudanese war orphans and woke up early, well before the sun rose.

This boy was sweeping out the compound before heading off to school. He paused just for a moment in the pre-dawn light and I got off 2 frames with my Leica M6. It is not terribly sharp, handheld, 1/4 second exposure at f 1.4 Fuji Velvia 50.
