We all know Jim Nachtway from his combat photos. He is also a committed documentary photographer. This project on extremely drug resistant TB is the result of his $100,000 TED prize last year. The pictures without Gustavo Santaolalla's soundtrack are here.
More and more truly wonderful documentary work is being funded not by traditional publishers but by non profit organizations. In 2005 I had a show at VISA in Perpignan, one of the most striking things to me about VISA that year is that of the 25+ print shows only a handful were originally created for a magazine.
