I have to admit, I didn't get it. I tried to explain it to others but always came up lame. But I get it now and and photographers should get it too. Twitter.
The best definition that I have seen yet about Twitter is "microblogging" and before you write it off for things your kids do, reflect: I am posting to a blog (a word that did not exist when we learned to develop film) and you are reading said blog. You may even have it bookmarked or saved as an RSS feed. So you're already complicit.
Twitter is simple to set up and simple to use. There are a couple great articles here and here that talk about it as a marketing tool, and I couldn't agree more. But here is where I think a photographer can increase her exposure while at the same time creating images that dont suck. In fact, someone please create a series of tweets that are just images from your iPhone (Twitterific is what I use). I want to see someone start bouncing photos off each other. If Stephen has a picture a day to talk about, he (you) is going to have ten thousand that many to tweet.
Get on board with the kids and drive your exposure in a way that can go viral in a hurry.
As you read, Stephen is setting up his Twitter account. Ask him for the results, but I guarantee you that in 60 days, he will have at least doubled the traffic on this blog.
Follow me here and I will in return follow you. Feel the love.
