Like I said yesterday, contest time is here. And this is a great time to go through a year's images and pull out things I'd forgotten about. The image above had completely slipped my mind. I shot it as part of a story, it didn't make the final cut so off to the dust bin.
Except that I don't ever throw pictures out, so here is Luke Padgett searching for crocodiles on the Manambolo. Not sure if it goes into a contest ...

I really like the way the milky way structure stands out, great.
Besides the camera settings, did you apply any noise reduction
or special technique in Photoshop?

Once I was high in the Colorado mountains. It was nearing midnight and cars were pulling over to the side of the road. We did likewise to find out what was going on. The "what" was the Milky Way as I'd never seen it before. And yet it doesn't begin to compare with the lights you've captured in this image. Extraordinary!
That title gives me an idea for a poem.
