South Sudan turned one year old yesterday. Here is a look back at some of my work with the Southern Sudanese over the last 10 years. The question that many have been asking since the peace deal was signed between the North and South is 'is the peace real or are we looking at a lull in in long war?'

Another approach to getting a response to a proposal is to schedule a phone meeting to discuss the proposal--before writing it. For example, I might say, "I will have the proposal for you by the end of the day on Monday. Can we schedule a brief meeting on Wednesday to discuss your reaction to it?"
