Part of my job in South Africa last week was to be in a very short film about me making my photos.
It is always sort of weird and a little uncomfortable to go from being behind the lens to in front of it, but its also a good thing to experience. A photographer should feel first hand what the subject of a photograph is going through at least once in their career.
Anyway, as part of it the film makers wanted to drop me off on an isolated ridge and film me from a great distance. Well that is what has just happened in this photo. The helicopter has dropped me off and it is flying away. It is a wonderful feeling going from the noise of the helicopter to the absolute quiet and isolation of the mountains. It also made me think "I hope I've been nice to these guys, I do hope they come back!"
