Friend and neighbor David Haskell is featured in the New York Times science section today. David spent a year visiting the same one meter round section of Cumberland Plateau forest. From that experience he wrote The Forest Unseen. If you haven't read it you should. Imagine Annie Dillard but with science, very good science. The NYT article by James Gorman is a good read as well.
