Among my favorite assignments was the 2 months I spent in Paris with working on Under Paris. Big surprise right?! But in a city full of wonderful things the places that I liked shooting best were on or near the metro. Maybe it is because I am from the rural south where the very idea of public transportation is a foreign concept. But I really think that there was always something interesting going on. Paris could not function without the metro. It transports more than the total population of the the city every day. In the way that I envisioned the final essay the metro photos would be the theme that held the disparate parts together.
Sadly, my editors -who ride the DC metro every day- were not as enamored as I was. So below are 5 Parisian metro photos that haven't seen the light of day.
